A reminder that the Xero Beautiful Business Fund competition entry deadline is approaching fast.
The XBBF initiative was launched last year and was a huge success - a beautiful testament to how incredible the Xero community is, and how much creativity and passion lies within the small business sector. "For many years, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have served as the backbone of the South African economy, creating jobs that help families and communities put food on the table – and stimulating broader socio-economic growth. They remain the most likely vehicle to tackle the country’s rising levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality." - Xero State of South African Small Business Report.
Entering is very straightforward, firstly you choose which category/ies you would like to enter for:
Innovating for Environmental Sustainability: How are you advancing your sustainability efforts?
Strengthening Community Connection: How are you making a positive impact in your community?
Trailblazing with Technology: How are you leading with innovative technologies?
Upskilling for the Future: How are you preparing for the future by addressing skill gaps?
The next step would be to complete a short online form and record a 90-second pitch video - have a look at last year's winning entries here for some inspiration and to get an idea of what might work. You are also welcome to reach out to the MGI Bass Gordon team to brainstorm some ideas - our client, Oranjezicht City Farm Market won the regional award for Strengthening Community Connection in 2023 and partner, Susan van der Valk, has been elected as one of the judges.
The competition is open to Xero customers in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK, or the US - with the prize monies totaling up to a whopping R8 million. The closing date is 27 August 5 pm - which is 7 am in South Africa - best to have your submission in by 26 August.
